“Sonnar”, quinto album del progetto NODO GORDIANO, è un viaggio ipnagogico, sospeso tra meditazione sul valore della specificità individuale e trasfigurazione del reale. E’ un album profondamente deleuziano, per l’omaggio a Nietzsche recuperato alla sua dimensione non strumentalizzata di artista, per l’eterna lotta tra forze attive e forze reattive, tra individuazione affermativa ed omologazione imitativa, per il taglio metodologico antirappresentativo, grazie al quale la musica non viene scritta e separatamente riprodotta, ma si autodetermina nell’unico ed irripetibile momento in cui viene registrata, praticando una sorta di ‘emotional discharge’. Il lavoro è diviso in tre momenti che ruotano attorno all’esperienza dell’Altro, separati tra loro da demoni che, come nella tomba degli Anina, custodiscono il mistero del Fuori, e si conclude con i versi dell’inno vedico a Sūrya, a memoria del simbolismo solare che, anche nelle tenebre, lo pervade.
“Sonnar”, fifth album of the NODO GORDIANO project, is a hypnagogic journey, suspended between meditation on the value of individual specificity and the transfiguration of reality. It is a profoundly Deleuzian album, for the homage to Nietzsche recovered to his non-instrumentalized dimension as an artist, for the eternal struggle between active forces and reactive forces, between affirmative identification and imitative homologation, for the anti-representative methodological cut, thanks to which the music is not written and reproduced separately, but is self-determined in the one and unrepeatable moment in which it is recorded, practicing a sort of ‘emotional discharge’. The work is divided into three moments that revolve around the experience of the Other, separated from each other by demons who, as in the tomb of the Anina, guard the mystery of the Outside, and ends with the verses of the Vedic hymn to Sūrya, a memory of the solar symbolism that, even in darkness, pervades it.

Nato nel 1994, il progetto di rock sperimentale NODO GORDIANO si è rapidamente guadagnato la reputazione di uno degli ensemble più peculiari emersi dalla scena indipendente di Roma.
Dopo due anni di attività come cover band progressive rock (specializzata nei repertori di King Crimson, Genesis e Banco), acquisisce una nuova consapevolezza, decidendo di concentrare i propri sforzi nella ricerca di una specifica identità creativa.
Il suono complesso e dinamico del gruppo insieme alle loro risonanti esibizioni dal vivo hanno aiutato la band a salire rapidamente alla ribalta alla fine degli anni ’90. Dopo l’uscita del loro album omonimo nel 1999, hanno promosso le loro creazioni facendo apparizioni in diversi festival ed accompagnando alcuni dei loro eroi (John Wetton, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso). Cambiando formazione album dopo album, con la costante presenza e supervisione di Andrea De Luca, e cercando sempre di evitare gli stereotipi di genere, hanno acceso un sincero dibattito nella critica; il suono diversificato sfida la categorizzazione mentre offre una inedita miscela di atteggiamento ora aggressivo ora psichedelico, di espressione emotiva, intelletto progressivo e stile vintage.
Il 2020 si conclude con l’uscita del quinto album di NG, Sonnar, e già guardano oltre alla ricerca di un nuovo orizzonte, in grado di arricchire l’eredità di un viaggio così affascinante.

Formed in 1994, NODO GORDIANO experimental rock project quickly earned a reputation as one of the most peculiar acts to emerge from Rome independent scene.
After two years of activity as progressive rock cover band (specialized in the repertoires of King Crimson, Genesis and Banco) the projects acquires a new awareness, deciding to concentrate its efforts in the search of a specific creative identity.
The group’s complex and dynamic sound along with their resonating live performances helped the band quickly rise to prominence in late 90s. Following the release of their self named album in 1999, they took to the road making appearances at multiple festivals playing along some of their heroes (John Wetton, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso) and promoting their own creations. Changing line-up album after album, with the costant presence and supervision of Andrea De Luca, and always trying to avoid stereotypes, their music sparked candid debate amongst critics; its diverse sound defies categorization while delivering a blend of aggressive or psychedelic attitude, emotive expression, progressive intellect, and vintage flair.
2020 ends with the release of NG’s fifth album, Sonnar, and they are still looking forward for a new horizon, with the extent of enriching the heritage of such a fascinating voyage.
