Il nuovo (quarto) album dei RAVEN SAD possiede personalità, spessore ed una rara forza narrativa, evocatrice di spazi infiniti e respiri profondi.
Complice il “Gilmour style” che Samuele Santanna, mente e cuore della band, negli anni ha fatto suo con tutta la carica emotiva che ne consegue. Ma è la band tutta ad esser colta in grande forma, con una serie immaginaria di istantanee che ritraggono THE LEAF AND THE WING, concept esistenzialista, magico viaggio elettrico in otto brani.
Un percorso sonoro, sul confine tra psichedelia progressiva e british neo-prog, che persegue la bellezza, un’interpretazione del benessere interiore, quando cuore e mente sono in armonia con l’universo.
Ulteriori sensazioni che avvicinano i suoni della band di Samuele Santanna ai Pink Floyd, quelli meno terreni, dove la complicità artistica ed umana tra Gilmour e Wright ha creato autentici gioielli. Inoltre, oltre alle raggiunte maturità ed esperienza, si aggiunge la voce di Gabriele Marconcini, le cui doti di rara bellezza e profondità, erano già emerse grazie alle musiche dei MERGING CLUSTER. Credo comunque, che il gran lavoro alle chitarre sia la chiave per capire ed entrare mello spirito di questo disco, anche se il supporto delle tastiere di Fabrizio Trinci è indubbiamente determinante. Da queste due componenti comunque, rispetto i lavori precedenti, è evidente un’ evoluzione qualitativa dei Raven Sad, dove una sorta di urgenza giovanile che si poteva scorgere nei lavori precedenti, lascia il posto ad una matura consapevolezza di concretizzare in musica pezzi di sincera quotidianità. Colpiscono anche i particolari, come per esempio l’intervento del violoncello sul finale di RIDE THE TEMPEST, un modo per impreziosire ulteriormente una trama di per sè già emotivamente carica.(Mauro Furlan)
The new (fourth) album by RAVEN SAD has personality, depth and a rare narrative strenght, evoking infinite spaces and deep breaths.
Thanks to the “Gilmour style” that Samuele Santanna, mind and heart of the band, has made of him over the years with all the resulting emotional charge. But it is the whole band that is caught in great shape, with an imaginary series of snapshots that portray THE LEAF AND THE WING, an existentialist concept, a magical electric journey in eight tracks.
A sound journey, on the border between progressive psychedelia and British neo-prog, which pursues beauty, an interpretation of inner well-being, when heart and mind are in harmony with the universe. Further sensations that bring the sounds of Samuele Santanna’s band closer to Pink Floyd, the less earthly ones, where the artistic and human complicity between Gilmour and Wright has created authentic jewels. Furthermore, in addition to the reached maturity and experience, the voice of Gabriele Marconcini is added, whose talents of rare beauty and depth had already emerged thanks to the music of the MERGING CLUSTER. However, I believe that the great work on the guitars is the key to understanding and entering in the spirit of this record, even if the support of Fabrizio Trinci’s keyboards is undoubtedly crucial. From these two components, however, compared to the previous works, a qualitative evolution of Raven Sad is evident, where a sort of youthful urgency that could be seen in the previous works, gives way to a mature awareness of realizing pieces of sincere everyday life in music . The details are also striking, such as the intervention of the cello at the end of RIDE THE TEMPEST, a way to further embellish a plot that is already emotionally charged in itself. (Mauro Furlan)
