L’8 ottobre 2020 esce il nuovo lavoro discografico degli Ancient Veil dal titolo Unplugged Live.
Dopo aver ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti per il precedente disco live “Rings of earthly… Live” del 2018 realizzato con la fidata Lizard Recordsdi Loris Furlan e in collaborazione con Black Widow, abbiamo deciso di completare questo percorso dal vivo con un nuovo disco, che racchiudesse principalmente le esecuzioni acustiche degli Ancient Veil, quindi le versioni eseguite in concerto in trio, con l’inserimento di alcuni brani particolari con la band al completo.
Il CD raccoglie quindi undici brani eseguiti dal vivo in tre concerti differenti.
Sette brani sono eseguiti in trio acustico composto da Alessandro Serri, Edmondo Romano e Fabio Serri, mentre quattro brani sono eseguiti con la band al completo, quindi insieme anche a Massimo Palermo al basso e Marco Fuliano alla batteria.
Particolari sono la porzione della suite Rings of earthly light in versione unplugged rivisitata nella struttura ed arrangiamento e la presenza di ben tre inediti: A clouded mind struggente strumentale, Return to the past brano che Alessandro Serri aveva composto per una delle primissime formazioni degli Eris Pluvia ed eseguita raramente dal vivo nel 1988/89 eYou’ll become rain part two registrata con la band. Questa è una composizione del 1991 scritta da Serri e Romano in quel periodo e portata in concerto durante l’unico tour realizzato in quegli anni e mai fermata su disco se non in una particolare versione per quartetto d’archi registrato dagli Ancient Veil nel 1995 nell’omonimo CD. Di questo brano a breve uscirà anche il video realizzato dal vivo a “La Casa di Alex” di Milano.
Gli Ancient Veil sono una formazione consolidata composta da Alessandro Serri (chitarre, voce), Edmondo Romano (sax soprano, flauti dritti, clarinetto, low whistle), Fabio Serri (pianoforte e tastiere), Massimo Palermo (basso), Marco Fuliano (batteria).
Il live è stato registrato durante due concerti realizzati a La Claquedi Genova avvenuti il 12 maggio e l’11 novembre 2017 in formazione acustica completata dalla presenza di Marco Gnecco all’oboe ed il 19 gennaio 2019 presso La casa di Alex a Milano con la band al completo.
Il CD è prodotto da Massimiliano Bet, dalla Lizard Records e in collaborazione con Eden Production.
Il mix è stato curato da Edmondo Romano e Simone Carbone, le riprese live da Massimo Calcagno e Patrick Simonetti.

After receiving numerous awards for the previous live album “Rings of earthly … Live” of 2018 made with the trusted Lizard Records by Loris Furlan and in collaboration with Black Widow, we have decided to complete this live path with a new album, which contains mainly the acoustic performances of Ancient Veil, then the versions performed in concert in trio, with the inclusion of some particular songs with the full band.
The CD therefore collects eleven pieces performed live in three different concerts.
Seven pieces are performed in an acoustic trio composed by Alessandro Serri, Edmondo Romano and Fabio Serri, while four pieces are performed with the whole band, together with Massimo Palermo on bass and Marco Fuliano on drums.
Particular are the portion of the Rings of earthly light suite in an unplugged version revisited in the structure and arrangement and the presence of three unreleased songs: A clouded mind poignant instrumental, Return to the past song that Alessandro Serri had composed for one of the very first Eris Pluvia formations and rarely performed live in 1988/89 and You’ll become rain part two recorded with the band. This is a 1991 composition written by Serri and Romano at that time and brought into concert during the only tour made in those years and never stopped on record except in a particular version for string quartet recorded by Ancient Veil in 1995 in ‘homonymous CD. The video made live at “La Casa di Alex” in Milan will soon be out.
The Ancient Veil are a consolidated line-up composed byAlessandro Serri (guitars, vocals), Edmondo Romano(soprano sax, straight flutes, clarinet, low whistle), Fabio Serri (piano and keyboards), Massimo Palermo(bass), Marco Fuliano (drums ).
The live was recorded during two concerts made at La Claque in Genoa which took place on 12 May and 11 November 2017 in acoustic formation completed by the presence of Marco Gnecco at the oboe and on 19 January 2019 at La casa di Alex in Milan with the full band.
The CD is produced by Massimiliano Bet, by Lizard Records and in collaboration with Eden Production.
The mix was curated by Edmondo Romano and Simone Carbone, live footage by Massimo Calcagno and Patrick Simonetti.
The oil painting on the cover is titled “Vertigine” and like those present in the booklet, they are all made by the painter Francesca Ghizzardi, a distinguishable sign of all the works of the Ancient Veil.
